Getting from Kuala Lumpur to Penang

When traveling in an unfamiliar country getting around can feel like a daunting task. More so when you are in a country that doesn’t speak English; however, moving around within Malaysia doesn’t have to be a scary thing to do. In fact, the transportation within the country include air, rail and bus systems that has made it easy to get around the country.

Georgetown offers many of the comforts of a modern city but differs from Kuala Lumpur in that it is near the beaches. The state of Penang is known for its lovely beaches, seafood restaurants and nightlife that have entertained tourist for years now.

These two areas of Malaysia are worth seeing and it can be easy to travel from one to the other. Taking a bus is a great option for those to wish to save a little money and see the Malaysian countryside. All northbound buses can be found at Pudu Sentral station. Buses tend to be the cheapest and quickest way to Penang. When traveling by air the trip may be comfortable and fast but you might find dealing with the airports more trouble that it’s worth. The airports are located about an hour outside Kuala Lumpur, so plan accordingly time wise. The trains are also a good choice for transit to Penang and offer large sleeper cars with AC. However, the trains do not take you directly into the city; they must stop at Butterworth and then you must take a ferry to get to Penang.

Exploring Malaysia is easy and simple if you plan ahead. Taking a bus from Kuala Lumpur to Penang is most definitely the cheapest and easiest way to travel between the two countries. The easy transit will make it easier for you to enjoy your vacation without being bothered by crazy transportation issues.
